Senior Brittany Murillo Completed a Hat-Trick With 3 Goals Friday Night
With a fantastic crowd and perfect weather for soccer, the Lady Eagles came out to play tonight, and they did not disappoint.  Right from the opening whistle ERAU showed the kind of determination and fight we have all come to know of them in recent years.  Possesion and the speed of play were all handled by Embry-Riddle just as they like, and in the 23rd minute they were rewarded.  Getting the Lady Eagles on the scoreboard first was senior co-captain Brittany Murillo.  Brittany finished off a nice pass from Whitney Desmarais, who controlled a well placed set piece from Marissa Golesh.  The combination was a perfect example of the team play the home team loves, and there was more to be had on the night.  Less than 2 minutes after the halftime break, it was the other senior co-captain's turn to find the back of the net.  Samantha Welch did it in fine style too, as she calmly found the side netting after a beautiful through ball was put right on her foot by Kelsey Anderson.  The seniors continued to lead the way when Murillo tallied her second goal via a penalty kick, and Kiley Frazier hit a gorgeous blast from 40 Yards out.  Brittany Murillo would finish the night with a hat trick, as she headed home a Marissa Golesh corner kick, and made the score 5-0.  Only moments later, Whitney Desmarais would represent for the sophomores, as she connected from a Julie Falsken assist to keep the scoring up for ERAU.  Junior Lindsay Cowgill would cap the night with an unassisted bomb from 30+ yards that clipped the underside off the crossbar and earned Lindsay her first goal of the year.  Sophomore goalkeeper Ciarra Pederson was credited with 1 save on the night, and her the first shutout for the Lady Eagles this season.  Head Coach Todd Poitras said after the game, "The ladies were brilliant tonight.  Top to bottom it all came together for us, and it showed us what we are capable of."  He continued on, "I know our pre-season scrimmages and even our game Wednesday (versus NCAA DI Southern Utah) were a bit misleading to the ladies and the fans.  In the end now I think they see the value of playing teams at that level."   ERAU next faces Judson University on Friday at 7:00 PM at Varsity Field here on the Prescott campus.  Friday night is the "Ultimate Women's Soccer Fan" Contest, as we search for our #1 supporter.  The winner of the contest will receive a Women's Soccer Hoodie, and the honor of knowing they are THE ULTIMATE FAN!   See you all there Friday night.
