Volleyball Team Wraps Up Play In Coca Cola Classic

Saturday saw the Eagles in day 2 of competition at the 2010 Coca Cola Classic at Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, TX. The Eagles finished the tournament with a 1-3 record after falling to both of their NAIA opponents Olivet Nazarene University and Lubbock Christian University.
This day was slated to be a challenge for the Eagles. Each of today's opponents are ranked in the top 25 in the NAIA preseason poll, Olivet at #12 and Lubbock Christian at #20.
In their 0-3 (11-25/18-25/18-25) loss against Olivet Nazarene University, the Eagles benefited from the scoring strength of Mahlet Lee, who scored a team high 9 points. Another notable performance was turned in by Liesl Hall, who tallied a team leading 10 assists.
In the final match of the day and the tournament, the Eagles fell in 3 sets (13-25/19-25/8-25) to Lubbock Christian. More solid performances were shared among the team in this match with Sarah Galea'I turning in a .333 hitting efficiency, Morgan Vieira tallying 12 assists, and Mahlet Lee who posted 11 digs and a team high 6 points. For her solid performance throughout the weekend, Mahlet was also named to the Coca Cola Classic all-tournament team.
Mark your calendars for the first home matches of the 2010 season. Friday and Saturday, September 10th and 11th, the Eagles host NAIA opponents Wayland Baptist University, Holy Names University, and Luke Air Force Volleyball.
