Trace Billet, 2X NAIA Wrestling All-American, and soon to be senior was recently selected out of 1,000 applicants for one of 25 rare internships with the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Trace is studying Aviation Environmental Science at the Prescott, Arizona campus.
Trace has commented that he “is gaining hands on experience in specific areas like Avian Radar, locating Raptor nests, retrieval of injured birds (see pictures) and working with Wildlife Biologists at the Seattle location”. In addition, Trace is gaining experience such as Airport Duty management and working with Operation Senior Managers.
Trace recently took an active role in recuing an adult Great Horned Owl which was found by contractors entangled in netting at a SEATAC Pond. The attached rescue pictures were sent by Airport Wildlife Biologist, Steve Osmek, of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Trace and his supervisor, Patrick Viehoever, were commended by Osmeck for a job well done.
