STUDENT ATHLETE ADVISORY BOARD

PURPOSES OF THE ERAU-SAAB ORGANIZATION
1. To streamline and promote efficient communication between the ERAU Athletic Department and the student-athlete population.
2. To provide the student-athlete population with an opportunity to more effectively communicate with the ERAU Athletic Department as well as the Campus Administration to provide suggestions on programs designed to serve their needs.
3. To actively encourage more involvement of the student-athletes in campus and community projects.
4. To design and implement programs that will encourage academic achievement, social responsibility and general awareness both in the athletic realm and on the ERAU campus.
5. To promote ERAU athletic events and increase the amount of attendance and support from the staff, faculty, community and most importantly, the student body.
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum requirements for ERAU-SAAB membership:
- GPA of 2.75 or better.
- Consistency in supporting the ERAU-SAAB purposes and goals.
- Attendance at each weekly meeting (by member and alternate)
MEMBERSHIP & ELECTIONS
The membership shall be composed of one voting member and one alternate from each of the groups listed below. Each member will serve as a liaison between the board and their individual team or group.
All board-elected positions (Co-President, Vice President, Secretary) will take place during the last meeting of the academic year.
OFFICERS
Co-Presidents: Shall preside over Athletic Council meetings and shall appoint the chairs of the standing committees. He/She will also be in charge of developing an agenda for each meeting with assistance from the Sponsor as well as the Vice President as needed.

B. Develops agenda and runs committee meetings
Vice President/Treasurer: Shall act in the absence of the Co-Presidents, overseeing all duties of the President. Further, the vice-president will oversee the financial responsibilities of the SAAB.
Secretary: Will be responsible for taking minutes for the meeting and is responsible for publishing minutes and distributing them to all members prior to the next meeting.

STANDING COMMITTEES
Committee chairpersons shall be elected by the ERAU-SAAB members. Membership on committees is open to any academically eligible student-athletes. Each committee will be advised by an athletics department staff member. These committees shall grow as we continue to add sports to the Athletic Department here at ERAU.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH COMMITTEE
This committee will be responsible for designing and implementing appropriate community volunteer activities for the campus and Prescott Community. The program will focus on the role of the ERAU athlete as a role model, and will also provide an opportunity for the student-athlete to give back to the community that supports them.
The Community Outreach Program will include involvement in:
- Volunteering
- Speaking engagements on campus
- School tutoring
- Comprehensive involvement in the “Kids in College” Program
- Speaking at local schools and in the community
SPIRIT COMMITTEE
This committee is designed to increase the participation and support for the Athletic programs from the ERAU student body, campus community and the overall Tri-City area. This committee will focus on bolstering school spirit and increasing attendance at all home events.
The SPIRIT Committee will include involvement in:
- Publicity
- Entertainment/Half-time activities
- Responsible for Ernie
FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE
This committee will be responsible for raising funds to be allocated for use for the SAAB committees. This committee will focus on gathering ideas and ways to gain money that will in turn support the many activities, events and programs that SAAB will use to enhance student life.
The Fundraising Committee will include involvement in:
- Student-Athlete Banquet
- Funding publicity for home events
- Funding all committees and programs
